I first fell in love with baking when I was little, baking on Sundays with my family. Every chance I could get, I was cooking and baking for family, friends, and co-workers. Food is my love language and I love seeing what new things I can create and share.
The story of how we went from a hobby to a business is a little funny. After years of working the corporate grind, I was looking for something that would make me happy. I love baking, and my dad pushed and encouraged me to turn my passion into a business. It has taken time, but almost 13 years later, here we are!
People always ask me how I came up with the name, but that was all my dad! We had been up decorating cookies and it was somewhere around 1 or 2 am when he turns to me. "I got it!" he said with this big grin. "Bite ME!!" and we just busted up laughing! I said I liked it, but I wanted something that was more...professional and would appeal to more than just the younger generations. So, we thought on it for a while and decorated for a while longer when he did the same shout out and in a harsh voice said the "BITE ME" and then in this...soft and flowy voice said "Delectables". So, that is who we are! Bite Me Delectables!
When we began this journey, I was living with my parents and they were my partners. Now, they live in another state to be with my sister and her kids. I am running this show on my own! What started out as a family run business with my mother, father, and me years ago, has blossomed into a one woman extravaganza. Now I wear all the hats here! I am the secretary, marketing department, designer, shopper, baker, decorator, delivery gal, clean up crew, photographer, and social media person(my least favorite roll, even over dishes!!)
My parents are now the behind-the scenes help. You can often find me calling my mom to talk about my favorite part of the orders, or asking dad for his advice. Bite Me Delectables would not be where it is without their help and support!
On occasion, I reach out to others for assistance with photography and the online elements of the business. Most of them are either family or friends and their work is appreciated and given credit when ever the need arises. One of my favorite photographers is Brittany Dorsey at "A Love Affair Photography."
